My research contributes to our understanding of the
genetic basis and architecture of speciation, species
differences and adaptation. I am using social and
solitaire insects and a wide range of genetic and
genomics tools to describe how epigenetic and genetic
variations in concert with expression differences
generate qualitative and quantitative variations in the
observed phenotypes, i.e. morphology, physiology and
behavior. I am also interested to understand the
interaction between nuclear and mitochondrial encoded
genes in the production of ATP and how this interaction
contributes to speciation, adaptation and the evolution
of complex traits.
