Faculty: Philosophy

At the American Medical College of Homeopathy we believe that students need to experience a variety of teaching styles and ways of practicing homeopathy. This broadens their understanding of how to work with homeopathy, and emphasizes the gifts that they bring by allowing them to see those gifts reflected differently in different teachers.

When a school is taught by only one teacher, the students may more quickly adapt to that way of seeing homeopathy, but their vision of the whole will be reduced and distorted. We prefer to allow them to see a broader perspective, as each teacher and practitioner teaches and learns their homeopathy a little differently. Our approach is a little more difficult for students to adapt to, since it requires that they be able to sort through the differences in the styles of teaching and of practicing brought by each teacher on the faculty. But, in the end, they see more clearly what is the core of homeopathy, and what is stylistic differences between individuals.

By using a small core faculty and a larger adjunct faculty, we try to reduce the confusion by having most of the material taught by the core faculty, but also broaden the students' understanding by having several adjunct faculty bring their special skills to the class. This also allows us to select adjunct faculty with a specialty in one or more fields of homeopathy and use them to teach those portions, to the benefit of the students.
