AMCH Las Fuentes Externship

Overview

AMCH is making an externship experience Available for AMCH students at Las Fuentes Health Center by September 1st, 2007. This Experience is available to 2nd and 3rd year Homeopathic students in the Certificate Programs. The clinic is free and provides acute care for low income Hispanic and Yaqui Indian populations. The clinic meets once per week on Monday afternoons, for four hours.

Structure and Format

The clinic is an acute care clinic and meets each Monday from 1-5PM. Students sign up on a first come first serve basis. Only one student is permitted at the site at a time. Priority will be given to students who have not done the rotation over students who wish to repeat the rotation.

What to Expect

The pace is variable. You can expect to sit around for some time and then be suddenly busy. All work at the clinic will be under the direction of Dr. Weisman whom you will be working under. Work will be observational only and there is no capacity to treat patients on your own. 

Language Issues

Many of the patients at Las Fuentes speak Spanish. However translators are available.

Dress and Equipment

Students should dress professionally (the same as they would for clinic at AMCH. Please bring any books that you might need and a computer if you wish. Books that would be especially helpful include a repertory and material medica.
