Program Course Descriptions
Below are the course descriptions for this new program. This is subject to change by the starting date of the new program.
The curriculum, for this program is divided into eight departments: Materia Medica, Homeopathic Pharmacy, Philosophy and History, Case taking Case Analysis and Repertory, Research, Clinical Training, Humanistic Studies and Practice Preparation. Note that course s for the Homeopathic Veterinary Assistant and Veterinary Practitioner Certificate Program are identical.
The courses are numbered by year and quarter (e.g. 203 is the third quarter of the second year).

Department of Philosophy and History
This department sets forth the basic fundamental principles on which the practice of homeopathic medicine is founded. Courses are also offered in homeopathic history, designed to give students a context in which to ground their clinical studies.
History 101: 7 hours
This is the first of a two part series of courses focusing on homeopathic history. A study will be made of the great master homeopaths, non-Hahnemannian practitioners, important works in homeopathy, the cause and decline of homeopathy in the United States, homeopathy around the world and of our homeopathic community.

Department of Materia Medica
This department teaches the fundamental knowledge of our homeopathic medicines..
Materia Medica 103: 4 hours
This is the first of a two part series on introductory materia medica. It includes an introduction to materia medicas, and how to study materia medicas. Acute remedies, chronic remedies and less well known remedies will be explored. Provings and the development of materia medicas will be explored along with translation of materia medica human symptoms into animal symptoms.

Department of Homeopathic Pharmacy
This department teaches the basic fundamentals of homeopathic pharmacy. The courses teach the basic skills necessary for a homeopathic practitioner to safely and accurately prepare homeopathic medicines.
Homeopathic Pharmacy 104: 1 hour
This course teaches the basics of homeopathic pharmaceuticals. This includes remedy preparation, mother tinctures, LM preparations, machines used in preparations and standards of the industry. The legal climate of homeopathic pharmaceuticals and statutory issues will be explored including HPUS. Students are required to prepare a homeopathic medicine.

Department of Clinical Training
This department is designed to put knowledge into practice. It helps the students to develop the necessary skills in patient care and management. Clinical occurs throughout training, commencing in the first week of studies. The student is gradually given increasing independence in their clinical work so that by the time of graduation, they are fully prepared for clinical practice.

This course is the first of a four part series designed to introduce students to case taking and case analysis in a clinical setting. Cases will be followed clinically over time.

This course is the third of a four part series designed to introduce students to case taking and case analysis in a clinical setting. Cases will be followed clinically over time.

This course is the first of a two part series designed to teach the core knowledge necessary for clinical practice. Topics include identifying characteristic symptoms rather than common symptoms of disease, translating symptoms into the language of the repertory, species differentiation and breed qualities as characteristics of disease.

This course is the last of a four part series designed to introduce students to case taking and case analysis in a clinical setting. Cases will be followed clinically over time.

Clinical Training 201: 21 hours
This course is the first of a four part series designed to help students observe recorded cured cases taken by professional homeopaths. Observational skills will be developed. Homeopathic medicines will be correlated with the materia medica being studied. Internet based technology will also be utilized through the Homeopathic Symposium.

Department of Research
This department provides students a basic foundation to the principles of homeopathic research. Students are taught how to access the literature and to develop research attitudes consistent with critical thinking.
Homeopathic Research 202: 2 hours
This course provides an introduction to homeopathic research including basic science, clinical and practice based.

Department of Practice Preparation
This department helps the student develop the requisite skills, knowledge and attitudes towards establishing a successful homeopathic practice. A focus is made on the development of business and marketing skills.
Practice Preparation 203: 2 hours
This course is the 1st of a two part series that is designed to introduce students to practice management skills and concepts. Business skills, marketing skills and financial planning are developed.

This course is the 2nd of a two part series that is designed to introduce students to practice management skills and concepts. Business skills, marketing skills and financial planning are developed.

Department of Humanistic Studies
This department of humanistic studies is designed to help the student develop self-awareness of their journey into becoming a homeopathic physician and healer. Self care is emphasized, ethics and professionalism, along with the development of effective communication skills.
Orientation 101: 4 hours
This course is designed to introduce the student to AMCH and build a sense of community. The concept of “What is Homeopathy” will be explored.
Prerequisites: None
Humanism 102: 6 hours
This course investigates the development of personal skills involved in becoming a homeopath. Issues of self-treatment, interpersonal skills, your personal goals as a practitioner, and the self-evaluation of strengths and weaknesses are explored.

Retreat 104: 7 hours
This course is designed to help students assess where they are on their homeopathic journey. Concepts are introduced related to self-care for the homeopathic practitioner. Stress management techniques will be explored to help the student throughout their tenure as a student.
Prerequisites: None
Ethics 103: 3 hours
This course introduces basic concepts of homeopathic ethics and provides the philosophical and theoretical foundations to critically examine ethical issues in medical practice. The elements of ethical decisions are evaluated in light of legal, moral, spiritual, religious and economic perspectives. Class format will be primarily discussion accompanied by readings.

Retreat/Graduation: 7 hours
This course is designed to help students assess where they are on their homeopathic journey. Concepts are introduced related to self-care for the homeopathic practitioner. Stress management techniques will be explored to help the student throughout their tenure as a student.
