Faculty are critical to this aspect of our college, and are trained and encouraged to work with students to ensure their success.
Miriam Mackey CCH
Faulty MemberMiriam has been a practicing homeopath for nearly twenty years. She has a particular interest in evidence-based research in integrative health care, and an intellectual curiosity that helps her investigate complex conditions. Miriam has offices in Alameda and San Francisco and leverages technology for a global practice. Prior to discovering homeopathy, she was an exercise physiologist working in both a cardiac rehabilitation facility and an acute care hospital. Miriam’s background also includes many years of experience in sports medicine physical therapy clinics. She is a founding member of the Alameda Integrative Network, a working group for education amongst integrative practitioners in the San Francisco Bay Area. Miriam has taught at Pacific Academy of Homeopathy, and has spoken at many community events. Miriam has presented homeopathy at the California Society of Cardiac Rehabilitation’s annual conference.
Bruce Shelton MD, MD(H), DiHom
Faculty Member; Academic Affairs ConsultantDr. Bruce Shelton is a graduate of the NY Medical College 1971. He is a diplomate of the British Institute of Homeopathy and a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He is past President of the Arizona Board of Homeopathic Medical Examiners and the president of the Arizona Homeopathic and Integrative Medical Association. He serves as chief medical advisorto Heel USA. He has an active homeopathic family practice in Phoenix, AZ.
Joette Calabrese, HMC, CCH, RSHom(NA)Joette Calabrese began her studies in classical homeopathy in 1986 and completed her five-year degrees in the North American Homeopathic Master Clinician Course and the Dynamis School of Advanced Homeopathy in Toronto. She has been on staff at Daemen College, teaching the 1st credit bearing course on the Principles of Homeopathy in New York State and Chautauqua Institution, and has served as a faculty tutor with the British Institute of Homeopathy. In 2013 and again in 2014, Ms. Calabrese was awarded a fellowship at the Prasanta Banerji Homeopathic Research Foundation in Calcutta, where she studied side by side with the world famous team of Dr. Prasanta and Dr. Pratip Banerji. Ms. Calabrese has run a SKYPE based, international homeopathic practice since 1995, authors a bi-weekly blog and offers online courses and tutoring in the Banerji Protocols. She has been keynote speaker at the National Center of Homeopathy and other international homeopathy and holistic conferences, is a regular contributing columnist for nutritional and homeopathic blogs and authors a column in Wise Traditions, the journal of the Weston A. Price Foundation. Ms. Calabrese authors on line courses and books, where she teaches practical methods and protocols to ensure that practitioners have powerful tools, but her main focus is teaching families how to cure themselves with homeopathy.
Gabrielle Cousens MD, MD(H)Gabriel Cousens M.D., M.D.(H), D.D. (Doctor of Divinity), Diplomate of American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine, Diplomate Ayurveda is considered the leading live-food medical doctors and spiritual nutrition experts in the world, and, is recognized as "the fasting guru and detoxification expert" by the New York Times. He is also a psychiatrist, family therapist, Ayurvedic practitioner, homeopath, acupuncturist, medical researcher, ecological leader, and bestselling author of books such as Spiritual Nutrition, Conscious Eating, Rainbow Green Live Food Cuisine, and There Is a Cure for Diabetes. He received his M.D. degree from Columbia Medical School in 1969 and completed his psychiatry residency in 1973. Dr. Cousens was the Chief Mental Health Consultant for the Sonoma County Operation Head Start and a consultant for the California State Department of Mental Health. He is listed in the Who’s Who in California, Who’s Who among Top Executives, Strathmore’s Who’s Who, and National Register’s Who’s Who and is a former member of the Board of Trustees of the American Holistic Medical Association (AHMA). Gabriel Cousens, MD has developed the first live-food, vegan Masters program in the world in conjunction with University of Integrated Science California. He is the director and founder of the Tree of Life Foundation and the Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center, called by Harper’s Magazine, “One of the world’s best 10 yoga and detoxification retreats”.
Betsy Reiling MPH, CCH
Faculty MemberBetsy has been practicing homeopathy in Pittsburgh, PA since 1994, treating all ages, often multiple generations in the same family. She especially enjoys caring for children. Her course of study included “The Professional Course” with Paul Herscu, ND of the New England School of Homeopathy, The Dynamis School of Homeopathy with Jeremy Sheer, and The North American Master Clinician’s Course with Louis Klein. More recently she has studied extensively with the Bombay group: Rajan Sankaran, Jayesh Shah, and Divya Chaabra. Betsy comes to homeopathy with a Masters in Public Health (MPH) from the University of Pittsburgh and a Bachelors from Allegheny College.
Pam Pappas MD, MD(H), ABPN, ABHM
Faculty MemberDr. Pam Pappas is a board-certified psychiatrist and classical homeopath practicing in Scottsdale, Arizona. She brings over 20 years’ patient care experience to her current practice, which also includes confidential support for physicians and other health practitioners. Her web site is www.drpampappas.com. After graduating from Wake Forest University School of Medicine, she completed an Internal Medicine/Family Medicine internship and Psychiatric Medicine residency at East Carolina University School of Medicine. She later served a fellowship in Psychosomatic Medicine at Duke University Medical Center, and is also a graduate of Dr. Andrew Weil’s fellowship in Integrative Medicine at University of Arizona. Dr. Pappas has developed psychiatric consultation services in several large medical centers, along with training medical students and residents in interviewing and Psychiatric Medicine. She is especially interested in developing compassionate listening and optimizing healing relationships. A graduate of American Medical College of Homeopathy, Dr. Pappas is a licensed homeopathic physician in Arizona. She continues post-graduate homeopathic studies with Dr. Rajan Sankaran, Dr. Divya Chhabra, and California Center for Homeopathic Education. Serving as Distance Learning Consultant for AMCH, she also facilitates homeopathic learning modules for the Program in Integrative Medicine. Hiking, birdwatching, music, and poetry keep her connected to what matters most.
Joel Kreisberg DC, MA
Faculty MemberJoel Kreisberg, DC, MA - is the founder and Executive Director of the Teleosis Institute. He is currently adjunct professor for John F. Kennedy University's Masters Program in Holistic Health Education and an instructor at the Acupuncture and Integrative Medical College. Dr. Kreisberg completed his Doctor of Chiropractic from New York Chiropractic College and a Master of Arts in Integral Ecology from Prescott College. Dr. Kreisberg serves as the chair of Sustainable Berkeley. He has been teaching and lecturing worldwide over twenty years. Dr. Kreisberg has been a leading educator in the field of homeopathic medicine for many years. He founded the Council on Homeopathic Education and has founded and directed the Teleosis School of Homeopathy. In more recent years his interests have changed somewhat into teaching in the field of green health care and sustainable medicine.
Tina Williams BA, IBCLC, RLC
Faculty Member; Academic Affairs ConsultantTina Williams-Wolf, has been an advocate of Homeopathy for over 22 years; since becoming intrigued with it's healing power with her own three children. Currently, she is in private practice as a Classical Homeopath in Portland, Oregon. A graduate of the American Medical College of Homeopathy, Tina studied under the acclaimed Dr. Todd Rowe. Her advanced education has included study under such world-renowned homeopaths such as Jeff Baker of Hawaii and Massimo Mangavalori of Italy. In addition to her private practice, Tina is currently on faculty at the American Medical College of Homeopathy. Tina is also a Master Herbalist, Certified in Microcurrent Therapy, and is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). She is experienced with mothers, infants and children.
Stefanie Workman MD, CCH
Faculty MemberDr. Stefanie, as her young patients have called her for more than 20 years as a practicing pediatrician, has always been focused on the concepts of prevention and wellness. She has her bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education and a masters in Family and Child Development which led to promoting children's growth through their learning environment and creating parent education programs. She then went on to studying medicine to enhance her knowledge of the human body in order to direct and encourage others to choose healthy life styles for themselves and their families. However, when problems arose and reliance upon chronic medications became an unacceptable solution, Dr. Stefanie knew it was time to explore other healing modalities for her patients. A two year stay in Switzerland peaked her interest in homeopathy, and a few years later she began her studies at the American Medical College of Homeopathy. Dr. Stefanie has a solo practice in Mesa, treating individuals of all ages with homeopathy.
Faculty MemberFrans Vermeulen was born in July, 1948 in Den Helder, Holland. He graduated from teachers training college in 1970. He worked as a schoolteacher until 1978 and had already started to study homeopathy at Stichting Klassieke Homeopathie in Den Haag. He continued to study homeopathy until 1983 although he had been running his practice since 1979. Frans started to translate homeopathic books for work and pleasure. Between 1983 and 1996 he translated English and German homeopathic books, including Kent, Allen, Hering, Boericke, Borland, Tyler, Vithoulkas, Voegeli, Whitmont, Miles, Morgan and Köhler. In 1985 he wrote Kindertypes in Homoeopathie (Children's Types in Homoeopathy), based on his experiences as both a teacher and a homoeopath. In 1990 he was appointed managing director, teacher, and administrator of The School of Homeopathy in Holland. In 1992 he wrote Synoptic Materia Medica 1 which originally emerged from remedy summaries made for the students in Holland, Ireland and Finland. He followed this one up with the Concordant Materia Medica published in 1994. Followed by a second edition of the Concordant, including Hering's Guiding Symptoms in 1997; a third edition was printed in 2000. Out of his special interest in the small remedies, Frans wrote Synoptic Materia Medica 2. In his recent Materia Medica tour de force entitled PRISMA, he introduces us to data from numerous non-homoeopathic sources as both reference material for the homoeopathic materia medica.
