Program Accreditation

Exciting changes are happening in the world of homeopathy, in the U.S. and right here in Arizona!

First, over the summer, the CHC announced a new pathway for CHC certification. This allows students who have not attended ACHENA-accredited schools to sit for the CHC exam, provided they meet the necessary standards. This change was made in response to federal actions regarding accreditation and aims to expand the homeopathic profession. Since ACHENA is not affiliated with the Department of Education, some homeopathy schools in certain states may no longer claim accreditation. This has become the case in many states across the U.S., and ACHENA is actively exploring options to address this issue.

In Arizona, exciting news has emerged with the introduction of licensing for homeopathic practitioners. To qualify for an Arizona license, individuals must be U.S. citizens, have attended an accredited school (by ACHENA or an equivalent body), and have passed the CHC exam (or an equivalent). The state has created two new licenses: Licensed Homeopathic Practitioner (LHP) and Doctor of Homeopathy (DH).

This brings us to PIHMA and AMCofH’s homeopathic program. We have voluntarily withdrawn our accreditation status as we were unable to finish the accreditation process due to administrative issues. We are currently reorganizing to reapply for this status. We fully support ACHENA as the sole accrediting body for homeopathy and are working diligently to address the administrative delays that impacted our reaccreditation process. We anticipate regaining accreditation in the next six months.

Additionally, we are preparing to apply for accreditation for a Doctor of Homeopathy program. Currently, no schools are offering this program in the U.S., and we hope to lead the way in providing a pathway to the new license.

Despite the temporary lapse in accreditation, AMCofH students remain eligible to sit for the CHC exam under the new pathway created by the CHC. Additionally, per ACHENA guidelines, if you attended an accredited school for at least 50% of your time, you may still claim that you attended an accredited institution.

We remain committed to providing the highest quality homeopathic education and being transparent about our accreditation status. We hope you will continue your studies with us as we work through this transition and seize the opportunities these changes present for the future of homeopathy.
